Werribee is located in the growing south-western suburbs of Melbourne the main route to Victoria's second largest city, Geelong.
The main street of Werribee extends along the entire length of Watton Street, and the Werribee Plaza is located 3 kilometres away in neighbouring Hoppers Crossing.
South of the town centre is Werribee Park, which is a major tourist drawcard for the area. It includes the Werribee Open Range Zoo, the restored Werribee Park Mansion which was built in the 1870s and is surrounded by formal gardens, and the State Rose Garden.
The Werribee River winds its way through Werribee's sprawling residential areas, lined with pathways and parkland. As it heads south towards the coast, scenic views of the river and some of the cliffs it has carved out of the surrounding land can be enjoyed from the park and lookout at the southern end of K Road.
Throughout much of Werribee South are large market gardens, irrigated using water from the Werribee River and recycled water from the nearby Western Treatment Plant.
11 kilometres south of the town centre at the mouth of the Werribee River is the Werribee South Beach with several jetties, boat ramps, foreshore area and stretches of sandy beach which is the location for the proposed marina which will bring in more tourism for the town and create more job opportunities.
Point Cook is located just east of Werribee. The Point Cook Coastal Park stretches along the coast and covers inland swamps and lakes which are home to an abundance of birdlife. The park also includes a historical bluestone homestead, information centre and cafe.
